Camille White

VOLUNTEER

As a rising senior at UCLA majoring in Chemistry with a Materials Science concentration and an Urban Planning minor, Camille White (she/her) is passionate about leveraging science and design to build climate-resilient cities and drive decarbonization on Earth and beyond. At the Aurelia Institute, she seeks to apply her chemistry and materials science background to the TESSERAE: Orbital Biolab, exploring sustainable materials and human-centered, ethical design for low-gravity environments.

Previously, Camille was an Undergraduate Research Scholar with the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, where she analyzed regulatory barriers to solar adoption in Los Angeles’ marginalized communities and supported native plant propagation with the National Park Service at the Wallis-Annenberg Wildlife Crossing. At UCLA, her current research focuses on self-quenching in solid-state nanocrystal suspensions relevant for green optoelectronic devices, and she is very excited about 3D-printable, earthen building and biomimicry, explored through a Design Fellowship at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Outside school, she likes rock climbing, photography, long walks listening to music, and existential philosophy.
